OUR FAMILY LEGACY
Strong roots.
A continuing journey.
A story of responsibility, relationships and two generations building the future.
THE BEGINNING
Our story began on May 9, 1967, with the birth of Shakil Ahmed into a modest, hard-working family in Raipur. Raised on honest values, his early years were spent at Holy Cross Pension Bada, followed by his higher education at Durga College. His family relied entirely on a single source of income: his father’s taxi.
While Shakil was midway through his graduation, his father suffered a catastrophic accident, leaving him bedridden with surgical rods in both arms and legs, permanently unable to drive or work.
Overnight, youth gave way to duty. Leaving college behind, Shakil stepped forward as the family’s sole breadwinner, taking his first job as a salesman at GK Sales, an automobile spare-parts firm.
Shortly after his engagement to Shabnam Parveen in 1989, a severe bout of jaundice forced him out of his job. With no steady income and mounting family responsibilities, he refused to break. Upon recovery, he drove his personal auto-rickshaw and hauled heavy cement bags for a close friend’s godown, doing whatever it took to keep his home afloat with dignity.
That season of sweat and humility forged the bedrock of S.P. Auto Dealers: an invincible work ethic, deep humility and a sacred respect for human relationships.
In 1990, Shakil Ahmed joined Swastik Gears (Kanpur), a manufacturer of commercial vehicle gears. On June 9, 1991, he married Shabnam Parveen, marking the start of a partnership that would anchor his life and business.
On the road across Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Vidarbha, Shakil discovered a rare gift: he didn’t just sell components; he built human connections. His ground-level presence and trusted word helped challenge the reigning market leader in the gear industry. Competitors, distributors and buyers recognized his extraordinary talent for building demand.
When Swastik Gears eventually faced an operational shutdown, Shakil Ahmed co-founded the region’s first fly-ash brick manufacturing unit alongside a friend. Yet his true calling lay in the trade he understood best: commercial vehicle spare parts.
In 1999, S.P. Auto was born, later evolving into S.P. Auto Dealers under the proprietorship of his wife, Mrs. Shabnam Parveen.
His industry reputation spread across Central India:
“Give Shakil Ahmed any product, and he will make it the highest-selling brand in the state.”
National manufacturers entrusted him with their products and territories. The loyalty of those partnerships has endured for decades; according to the firm’s history, no manufacturer who partnered with Shakil Ahmed has stopped dealing with him.
His son, Faiz Ahmed, joined the family enterprise. While actively working in the business, Faiz completed his graduation, post-graduation and Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.), bringing strategic thinking, structured analysis and modern vision to complement his father’s decades of field wisdom.
On March 10, 2020, S.P. Auto Dealers moved into its current facility in Raipur. With vast warehousing capacity, it was built with a clear goal: to become Chhattisgarh’s one-stop destination for commercial vehicle spare parts.
The firm accelerated partnerships with leading Original Equipment Suppliers (OES). New statewide distributorships supported volume growth and an expanding presence across the districts of Chhattisgarh.
Guided by the foundational principles of Shakil Ahmed and Mrs. Shabnam Parveen, second-generation leader Faiz Ahmed is driving the firm toward its ultimate milestone: to build India’s most advanced digital platform and connected ecosystem for the spare-parts industry.
Relationships forged in struggle. Growth proven by numbers. A vision to lead the country.
